United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women at Peakland

United Methodist Men

United Methodist Men

The stated purpose of the United Methodist Men is found on their website: "The mission of the General Commission on United Methodist Men is to assist men to know Jesus Christ, to serve Him, to grow spiritually and seek daily to do his will. "United Methodist Men count ALL men of the church among their membership. UMM meets on Saturday mornings at 8:00 for breakfast, fellowship, and a devotional. From the core group that meets on Saturdays comes sponsorship of the annual Peakland United Methodist Church Golf Tournament, a major fund raiser for the organizations outreach activities. 50% of the UMM funds support an annual contribution to
Heart Havens , while the remainder goes to support other Peakland missions and other church needs. Men of UMM find a close fellowship in their efforts, from caring for the church structure to teaching Sunday School to serving on the Board of Trustees. As one member said, "Just going to a worship service does not often make a person a vital member of Christ's church. It is getting involved that helps a person find the joy of living a Christ-like life."Peakland's UMM serve the church, the community and the world willingly year after year, " deriving the spiritual reward of knowing they are contributing to the welfare of humankind."-- The Charter

United Methodist Women

Three circles, the Cordelle Crist Circle, the Ruth Circle, and the Sophia Circle, meet monthly in members'  homes. These circles are all actively involved in mission projects, including sponsoring a COPA child, supporting the work of Hope Aglow Prison Ministries and the Fresh Air Project.

All women of the church are considered to be part of United Methodist Women. The fellowship and the mission effort these women enjoy together make them feel they are actively living as Christ teaches us to live.

Park View Mission Dinners

Park View United Methodist Church opens its doors to serve dinner to the needy, every Wednesday night.  Other Methodist churches within the district provide the meals and help serve.  In 2008, Peakland will be cooking and serving on February 27, April 23, June 25, August 27, and October 29.  We welcome individuals or groups within the church to participate by contributing to the cost of the food, cooking, and/or serving the meals.  Thanks to the United Methodist Women for contributing the desserts for every one of our dinners.  If you or your group would like to help, please contact the church office.

Green Team Forming

A new opportunity has opened up for those interested in helping our church become better stewards of the Earth.  If you share the feeling that it is time to take better care of the wonderful world we have been given, please come to an organizational meeting Sunday, February 24, at 12:15 p.m. in the Dining Room.  Bring your ideas and lets get started.  Lunch will be provided.  If you have any questions, contact the church office for more information.

PUMC's Witness Committee

The  Witness Committee of PUMC is working to help us all learn how to welcome our guests effectively, to encourage new members to feel welcome, and to help all members of PUMC put down deep roots; The committee needs good ideas for making these things happen from members who would like to serve this important ministry of the church.

Please come to the next meeting;  you will find some gifted speakers, good discussion, and warm fellowship.  Contact Don Roy or the church office if you would like to participate.
