Support Groups

Passages. . . a healing experiencebutterfly

Twice yearly, Passages is held for those who have had significant loss in their lives through death, divorce, relationship strain or health issues. The focus of the group is to learn to understand and cope with grief and  to bring hope to your life.

The next six week session will continue through Dec. 4.  See Bulletin Page for details.

For more information, contact Susan Williams  at 434 384-2791 or in the Peakland United Methodist Church  office.

Compassionate Friends

Held the first Thursday of each month in the PUMC Adult Library from 7:30 to 9 p.m., The Compassionate Friends is a nondenominational self-help support group for families who have experienced the death of a child.

Parents and other adults having lost a child gather to listen, to care, and to understand each other in the process of grieving, healing, and growing to recovery. Sharing experiences in this safe, non-judgmental environment removes the feelings of isolation and gives parents/other adults a place to “belong”.

For more information, contact Susan Williams in the church office.

The Compassionate Friends website provides valuable information for those grieving.

people will forget what you did,

but people will never forget how you made them feel."
